How to have great sex
The best sexual experience begins with a trusting relationship and good communication. If you are making a decision about becoming sexually active, some important things to consider include:
- Your personal values and goals
- Your feelings about the kinds of emotional and physical steps you are willing to take
- Whether you are feeling pressured
- How clear you can be with your partner about what you want and don't want to happen
- What you want out of your relationship (Planned Parenthood, 2001)
Sometimes it is helpful to talk things through with someone you trust - a parent, a friend, a counselor and or a CAPP member. For more information, check out the Rice Counseling Center.
Always practice Safe Sex!
If you decide that you are ready to enter into a sexual relationship, always practice safe sex. Use a condom or other barrier method every time there is a risk of exposure to body fluids. The Wellness Center has free condoms, dental dams and finger cots for your use. Alternatively, your health rep within each undergraduate college will also have a supply. Check out our health reps for more information.
