Before coming to Rice, you probably sought advice from family members, teachers, mentors, and peers as you addressed academic and personal challenges in high school. It is just as important to continue these conversations now that you're at Rice.
As questions or difficulties come up, you'll find an array of services, trained peers and professionals on campus to help you. If you end up encountering unexpected difficulties while at Rice, one good place to ask for help is the Office of Student Development and Retention.
How we can help
Student Development and Retention can assist you as you resolve problems that may come up while you’re at Rice. We’re here to help you along your path to graduation, and we encourage you to contact our office before a concern becomes overwhelming.
Specifically, our office helps students address challenges and develop a plan for success at Rice. This may include helping students connect to other resources on campus for additional support. Additionally, sometimes students decide to take time off for a variety of reasons, including those arising out of or because of medical or other personal concerns. We’re here to support students who choose to take a break from Rice and we help them plan their roadmap back to campus. |
Rice offers a network of support for students and many students take advantage of those resources. If you're not sure where to go to get a question answered or to get help, just say something. We want to hear from you.
We have a resource guide available to assist you. Please click here to download the brochure. This guide is not a comprehensive list of resources, but is a good place to start looking for ways to get help. |
